Onko Helsinki enää edes suomalainen kaupunki?
Kävelin hiljattain Helsingin Itä-keskuksessa enkä kuullu melkein kertaakaa suomee. Ei kaupoissa, ei kadulla, ei edes kahvilassa, jossa myyjä kysyi englanniksi: "Hi, what would you like?" Vastasin suomeksi. Hän ei ymmärtänyt. Kahvi jäi tilaamatta.
Tämä ei ole satunnaista. Tämä on trendi.
Helsinki ei enää tunnu suomalaiselta. Tuntuu, että kaupungin ideologia on täysin irronnut todellisuudesta: täällä ei enää uskalleta puolustaa omaa kulttuuria, vaan monikulttuurisuus on pyhä lehmä, jota ei saa kyseenalaistaa edes silloin, kun tulokset näkyvät rikostilastoissa, koululuokkien kielellisissä haasteissa tai siinä, että lähiöt ovat segregoineet itsensä omiksi kielialueikseen.
Mitä tapahtui sille Helsingille, jossa kaikki puhuivat suomea ja jossa suomalaisuus oli itsestäänselvyys? Nykyään jos yrität puhua tästä asiasta ääneen, sinut leimataan rasistiksi, vanhaksi, taantumukselliseksi. Samaan aikaan poliitikot ja media lällättävät meille "monimuotoisuuden rikkautta" samalla kun todellinen arki rapistuu: koululuokat hajoavat, hoitoalalle ei enää löydetä kielitaitoista työvoimaa ja syrjäytyneisyys tiivistyy tietyille postinumeroalueille.
Tämä ei ole vain kielikysymys. Tämä on kysymys kulttuurisesta itsemääräämisoikeudesta.
Miksi Ruotsi voi vaatia maahanmuuttajilta kielenopetusta ja kotoutumista, mutta Suomessa pelätään vaatia mitään? Miksi Helsinki on käytännössä jo antanut periksi? Miksi suomalainen joutuu nykyään väistymään omassa pääkaupungissaan?
Tämä ei ole globalisaatiota. Tämä on identiteetin romahdus.

"Että oikein kahvi jäi tilaamatta — varmaan kansanmurhan esiaste sitten." Itket siitä ettei joku barista tajunnu sun “mustaa ilman maitoa”. Samaan aikaan ihmiset maailmalla kärsii sodista ja nälästä. Ehkä kokeile vähän suhteellisuudentajua ennen kuin alat itkeä etnistä syrjäytymistä koska joku ei osannut vokaaleita.

Here in America there's no such thing as a singular sovereign culture. The entire concept is irrelevant, or fantasized at best, and provides the stage for the divisiveness that has been growing since the birth of the nation; specifically from its very beginnings when its ratified Constitution clearly did not consider inclusive certain enslaved and native north American cultures within the shortsightedness of the pens that signed it. So, our problem is the lack of a collective consciousness where, despite much bravado and showboating, patriotism never had a real pulse or place to call home. I think this is a germ the ever-growing American tourism is infecting traditionally sovereign nations with, the EU notwithstanding, and causing them certain cultural disenchantment. In the face of this realization, many Americans are returning to the roots of their lineage and reclaiming citizenship in their respective countries of family origins. My own family is returning to Italy and renouncing America. It isn't just the notion that America has become smug with a contrived righteousness, it's also a fact that it is pricing its succeeding generations out of a living standard above the poverty level. In other words, I'm moving my sons to a place where they can comfortably enjoy their lives. I do realize that I'll be part of the dilution of the culture of a traditionally sovereign nation, but becoming a nomad is becoming a forced reality for people who need to take advantage of it to better their situations.
