What’s the worst lie you’ve ever told that people still believe?

Told my mom I was at my best friend’s house studying, when actually I was driving 3 hours to see a guy I met online. I even staged fake texts from my friend to back it up. 10 years later she still tells people how “responsible” I was in high school lol.

I told my ex I was allergic to cats so she wouldn’t move her cat in with us. I’m not allergic at all. Broke up anyway 6 months later, and she still thinks I’d die if I walked into her apartment.
